The won is the currency of Korea. In November of 2010 the won showed great strength, raising to a value almost the highest it has been in 6 months. This is due to the Chinese currency, the yuan, being allowed to appreciate recently. China freed up the yuan in anticipation of the Group of 20 nations summit which was scheduled to take place in mid-November and last for two days. China and the United States are now in the midst of a currency exchange dispute which they hope will be resolved before the summit begins.
